Ogun East PDP women leaders hold inaugural meeting, pass vote of confidence on Bamgbose-led Exco
Women leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Ogun East Senatorial District in Ogun State, held their maiden meeting today, 10th of July, 2020.
The meeting was the first since their emergence. The newly appointed Senatorial Women leader, Alhaja Bulky Adekunle (Radiant), had called to meet with the nine local government women leaders while invitation was also extended to one leader from each of the local governments. This was done with strict adherence to the government's directives on social gathering.
In her welcome address, Alhaja Adekunle appreciated the women leaders for yielding to her call. She described the meeting as a 'familiarisation meeting'.
'First and foremost, let me welcome you all to today's meeting. This should have been held long before now but for the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, we can not sit back and do nothing especially when we have been saddled with a responsibility.
This will also avail us the opportunity to map out strategies which we can use to deliver on the tasks before us. I also wish to appreciate our fathers for honouring our call. This is a signal that we are going to enjoy their total support', She said.
While addressing the women, a leading leader from Ogun Waterside, Pa Dele Odulaja commended Alh. Radiant for such initiative, describing the meeting as first of its kind since he joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
'The work for a better tomorrow starts today. I wish to commend you all, particularly the Senatorial women leader, Alhaja Radiant for convening a meeting like this. This is really impressive and I must confess that it's the first if its kind.
My message for you is simple and precise - make judicious use of the position you are occupying presently. It is now crystal clear that the Party is heading for a reform. Exalted posts withing the Party would only be given to credible, reliable, dependable and competent fellows.
The 2019 election should have opened our eyes to many realities but it all depends on how we handle it. This meeting should not stop here. When you get to your various local governments, try and hold such with the ward women leaders too. It will lay a good foundation for a kickstart of the 2023 project', said Pa Odulaja.
Ogun East PDP Chairman Barr. Bolujoko urged the women to be honest to the course they believe in. He stated that without honesty, nothing can be achieved. He implored them to be one-minded and deliver on the task given to them wholeheartedly.
The women leaders took turn to give reports of the situation of things in their various local governments and also appreciated the leaders for coming. In their remarks, they expressed confidence in the Bamgbose-led Ogun PDP Exco and pledged total support.
Ankara materials, detergents, Nose masks among others, were distributed to everyone as take home.
Leaders in attendance were; Chief Robert Adenaike (Baba Ololu), Pa. Dele Odulaja, Pa. Olatunbosun, Chief Osinubi, Chief Shittu, Barr. Bolujoko (Ogun East PDP Chairman), Prince Leke Shittu (Secretary, Ogun State PDP) and Asiwaju Ayorinde Babatunde (Fabregas).
