CAMPUS GIST : The rising profile of an emerging leader, Comrade Olatunde Ridwan Rabiu

Recently, I came across the inspiring profile of an intelligent Comrade in Ayetoro Campus of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) - which breeds the Agricultural Science students. His names are Rabiu Ridwan Olatunde.  He is popularly known as 'Ola Southy'.  He is the incumbent Speaker of Nigeria Association of Agricultural Students (NAAS), OOU CHAPTER.   As we all know, Student Union leadership is formed to promote and defend the welfare needs of the Students' community in Nigerian tertiary education system.  Part of the leadership's duty is to engage Government and the authorities of the institution through dialogue on certain policies which tends to provide certain minimum services that will promote a sustained environment for academic interactions. NSCDC nabs welder in Ondo State for defiling daughters

The Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps says it has arrested a man , Femi Onifade, for allegedly defiling his two daughters . The suspect was said to have committed the offence at No . 27 Liberty Hospital Road , Oluwatuyi area of Akure , the state capital. Onifade , a welder , was alleged to have defiled his seven and nine - year -old daughters.  The state Commandant of the NSCDC , Mr Philip Ayuba, said the man was arrested following intelligence gathering by officers and men of the Anti- Human Trafficking and Illegal Migration Unit of the command . It was gathered that his arrest was made possible by the support of the Deji of Akure , Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, as the monarch was said to have handed over the suspect to the command . Onifade allegedly had carnal knowledge of the minors when their mother was not around . Eid-el-Fitr : DRE urges Muslims to emulate the teachings of the Holy Prophet*

  As Muslims across the globe gather to celebrate the 2020 Eid-el-Fitr, Omooba Damilare Bello has sent his goodwill message to commemorate the day.  DRE, as fondly called by friends and political associates, asked the Muslim faithfuls to emulate the virtues of Prophet Muhammad as they celebrate Eid Fitr. In a statement issued by his media team, he enjoined them to use the period to offer prayers for peace, unity, prosperity and victory over the coronavirus pandemic which portends to take the nation to a standstill.  The statement reads in part, "I congratulate my fellow Muslim brothers and sisters on the completion of the 30-day fasting and prayer. I also wish to enjoin them to put into practices, the lessons learnt during the Ramadan period and to love and to share with the less privileged in the society as exemplified by the Holy Prophet.   Special Assistant to the Ogun state Governor on Students matters , Comrade Azeez Adeyemi, has berated the All Progressives Congress government led by President Muhammadu Buhari, saying the administration's school feeding initiative is a scam.    Adeyemi who is combining his appointment with his office as the National Public Relations Officer of  National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) said federal government proposed plans to spend N13.5billion on feeding school children even during the lockdown period is a fraud. Adeyemi said this through a statement he personally signed  and made available to journalists in Abeokuta on Thursday  describing the Federal government’s decision to continue with the school feeding programme even as schools are not opened as an avenue to further drain lean resources of the country. 15-YEAR OLD BOY WEDS 22-YEAR OLD GIRL IN ABIA STATE

It was a surprising moment on Sunday 26 April 2020 in Amaiyi Igbere in Bende L.G.A of Abia State when a 15 year old boy by name Abraham Samuel Onuoha wedded a 22 year old Anurika John from Akeze in Ebonyi State. Samuel is the only son of late Mr. Abraham Onuoha of Ndi-Ekpere in Amaiyi Igbere, who passed away to the glory of God in 2010. According to the mother, Mrs. Peace Abraham, Samuel was born in 2005 after many years of marriage without an issue. In an interview, one of the villagers revealed that they were in great shock that Sunday morning when the minister in charge of Assemblies of God Church Amaiyi Igbere announced the wedding and that they are still wondering the reason behind that marriage, saying that the boy is too tender to be involved in that kind of thing now, also considering that the girl in question is older than him. Police arrests 27-yr-old, 70-yr and other residents for insulting President Buhari

Amid COVID-19 lockdown in the country, Police have arrested Lawal Abdullahi Izala, ‘m’, aged 70yrs, Bahajaje Abu, ‘m’, aged 30yrs and Hamza Abubakar, ‘m’, aged 27yrs all of Gafai Quarters, Katsina, Katsina state for insulting President Muhammadu Buhari and the executive governor of Katsina state, Aminu Bello Masari, CFR.” The trio were said to have insulted Buhari in a viral video on the social media, VAM News has learnt. COVID-19: GOVERNOR ABIODUN MEETS SECURITY CHIEFS, FINETUNES IMPLEMENTATION OF NEW MEASURES

The Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun today met with all security chiefs in the State in his office in Abeokuta, where he received updates on compliance with directives, the security situation, and how best to enforce new measures. Governor Abiodun stated that the meeting, which had heads of all security agencies present, was to keep the Government abreast of the emerging situation, which it must regularly act upon. "The current pandemic is no respecter of status, office or person. Anyone can be affected anywhere, especially if measures are not taken. "So government too should be ahead of developments.
