NASS Leadership Election: PDP Constitutes Fact-Finding Committee

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has set up a fact-finding committee on the role played by some of its members at the election of the presiding officers of the National Assembly. The terms of reference of the committee are: To find out why some of our Honorable members and senators-elect then, failed to abide by the decision of the party during the National Assembly leadership election; To find out whether there is any involvement of the ruling Party in the decision taken by the members involved; Where there are established reasons for taking the action by members, the committee should identify such so that the party can create mutual and political atmosphere for reasonable interaction with Senators and Honourable members; To find out and recommend ways to checkmate such tendencies in the future and ensure that, moving forward, all members work together to defend the interest of the party at all times and circumstances.  T...

Ogun PDP mourns property magnate, Asiwaju Olajide Awosedo

   Ogun State chapter of the  Peoples Democratic Party has expressed grief shock over the death news of the property magnate and one time gubernatorial aspirant of the Party, Asiwaju Olajide Awosedo who died on the 18th of June, 2019.    Reacting to his death in Abeokuta, the State Chairman of the Party in Ogun, Hon. Sikirulahi Ogundele described the death of Asiwaju Awosedo as a big loss to the party, his family and the State as a whole. We only experimented with server but not for 2019 elections, says INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission on Monday said that results of the 2019 general elections were not transmitted electronically to its server, stressing that the Commission only experimented the technology during some staggered elections held in 2018.  The Commission said that the clarification was necessary because of rising controversies on the transmission of 2019 Presidential Election results from states to the INEC server. Speaking during the Post Election Retreat organised by the Commission for its staff and ad hoc staff engaged for the last general elections in Osun State, INEC National Commissioner, Solomon Soyebi, explained that many factors forced the Commission to drop the idea of electronic transmission of the results to a central server.  Soyebi added that INEC experimented with electronic transmission of results during Anambra, Sokoto and Osun elections held before 2019 elections but the Commission did not sustain the use of the technology during t...

19-year old Nigerian shot dead in London

Eniola Aluko, 19, was on Friday shot dead at Plumstead, London. According to UK’s Metropolitan Police, Aluko, who is from Thamesmead, died after sustaining gunshot wounds to the neck and chest. Metropolitan Police said they were called to the scene, a car park on Hartville Road, just before 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Aluko was found with critical injuries and died at the scene. A post-mortem examination held on Saturday gave the cause of death as a gunshot wound to the neck and chest. Already police have arrested an 18-year-old man on suspicion of murder.  Four other people, all teenagers, who were arrested in relation to the crime have been granted bail pending the start of trial in early July. The wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, has announced her decision to be addressed as the First Lady, with immediate effect, so as to also resolve the issue of the title of wives of state governors. Mrs. Buhari, who disclosed her new official title at the presentation of awards to the former and current wives of the 36 state governors held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, said: “When my husband was elected newly, I personally chose to be called the wife of the President. Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun Appoints SSG, Chief of Staff

Ogun state Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has approved the appointment of Mr. Olatokunbo Joseph Talabi as the Secretary to the State Government. Also appointed is Alhaji Shuaib Afolabi Salisu  as the governor's Chief of Staff. The new SSG comes to the job with a rich private sector background as a business development professional, banker and entrepreneur. He was until his appointment the Chief Executive Officer of Superflux International Limited, a market leader in security printing . The 57-year-old Talabi holds a 1987 Masters degree in Business Administration from the University of Lagos.  He also trained at the Citibank School of Banking, Long Island, New York.
